I grew up moving around the world as a military kid — living in Spain, California, Florida, the Philippines, Hawaii, Italy, and Germany — which gave me an early love for learning, people, and new experiences. That upbringing shaped the way I see education: it should be engaging, practical, and rooted in curiosity. I carried that mindset with me to Southeastern University in Florida, where I studied education and spent plenty of time on the soccer field, preparing for a future centered on teaching and mentoring students.
During college, I met my future wife while working at a summer camp in East Texas — a place that would play a big role in our story. We married in 2006 and I joined the camp full time as an outdoor education teacher, a job that perfectly combined adventure, leadership, and hands-on learning. When our first child arrived in 2009, our path shifted toward ministry, and I stepped into youth pastoring in Houston while my wife began her photography career. We’ve been serving students ever since, eventually returning to Dallas to raise our growing family and welcome our third child.
Our homeschooling journey began out of necessity, but quickly became something we deeply loved. We discovered a rhythm and freedom that allowed our family to learn at our own pace, prioritize what mattered most, and build meaningful community. Through more than a decade with Classical Conversations — tutoring Foundations, Essentials, and now directing Challenge III — I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside many families on similar journeys.
In 2021, I started Homeschool Helper after creating simple songs and videos to help our own kids learn. Sharing them online unexpectedly connected me with thousands of families looking for practical, encouraging homeschool support. What began at our kitchen table has grown into a resource focused on making learning approachable, memorable, and fun.
Today, we continue to homeschool our three kids, serve in youth ministry, and support families who want homeschooling to feel less overwhelming and more life-giving. My greatest passion is helping parents build confidence, create joyful learning environments and discover that education can be both meaningful and enjoyable for the whole family.
